On February 14 and 15, Paulo de Assis gave 12 hours of lectures at the Centro Superior de Enseñanza Musical Katarina Gurska, in Madrid (Spain). The lectures (in the framework of the Master in Contemporary Instrumental Composition) were divided into three groups: I. Theoretical (1. What is the Contemporary?, 2. What are musical works?, 3. The Politics of Art and Music); II. Composer’s portraits (Luigi Nono, Helmut Lachenmann, Brian Ferneyhough, Emmanuel Nunes); and III. Analyses of singular pieces (Nono’s …..sofferte onde serene… and Epitaffio per Lorca Nr. 1; Lachenmann’s Allegro sostenuto; Nunes’ Duktus).
